I have a GEM Car golf cart that is difficult to charge the batteries with the on board system. I have paid $700 to a golf cart repair service to do work on the batteries and replace the batteries under warranty. Still the on board charger is not charging the batteries. It costs $639 for the charger. There are six 12 volt batteries in a GEM that cost between $1800 and $3000 depending on the type and brand purchased. That fact indicates it might be cost effective to get the charger for $639 if you can use cheaper batteries that can be charged.
